Encouraging News-Chester businesses helping people dress for success

In this time when jobs are scarce and money is tight, you need to make yourself stand out to employers. That's why a number of organizations in the Chester area are working to help people in need dress for success.

If you've been meaning to clean out your closet, now could be perfect time; those things that don't fit anymore or you just no longer want or need could mean a fresh start for somebody else.

The items in these bags could be a hidden gem for someone facing hard times and looking to get a job. The Chesterfield Colonial Heights Alliance for Social Ministry or CCHASM helps provide career clothing for both men and women. Right now, organizers are looking forward to filling their clients' needs through a clothing drive next month.

Sharon Juozapavicius, CCHASM's CEO says, "They may not have that all important interview suit or the first week's worth of clothing, so we schedule appointments and they can come in and shop for free; they can pick out items: suits jackets shoes, for the women, accessories shoes handbags."

Chester businesses Goodman and Company and Morgan Keegan are sponsoring the clothing drive. Representatives says it's important to give back to their community.

Chris Sovien, a VP a Morgan Keegan says, "Helping people get jobs, it's just a hand up instead of a hand out and is very meaningful to me. Just a little bit of help; giving these folks a little bit of help could mean all the difference for these people's lives and the lives of their families."
