And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons:
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."

God really does love us too much to leave us like we are. He will allow bad things to happen to us, usually as the consequences of decisions we made without His input, so we can learn, repent, and be a better person and gain more understanding of what He wants for us and from us. Pain now will be gain later if we seek Him in the process.
