Encouraging Scripture-Break the cycle

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.
Proverbs 12:17 (NIV) from Bible Gateway

I'm sure we all know someone who keeps making the same mistake over and over again.  When we hear about the latest example, we just shake our head ruefully and wonder how they could be so foolish.  There's a good chance, however, that our friends sometime do the same thing about us.  Whether it's moving into bad relationships, changing one no-win situation at work for another, or failing at that diet or kicking that bad habit for the umpteenth time, human nature is prone to repeating the same mistake.  This scripture points out the value of heeding discipline and the consequences of ignoring correction.  Sometimes we expect God to simply fix our mistake and remove us from a difficult situation we got ourselves into, but He never said He would do that.  God is with us through the difficulty, but we have to accept consequences of our decisions.  Let's all try to see the Lord's guidance and find a new way through those situations in our lives that always seem to trip us up--God will show us a better way.
