Encouraging Scripture-Those who know it all don't

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.
Proverbs 19:20 (NIV) from Bible Gateway

For a long time I've thought someone who approached life as a know-it-all and held himself above reproach was delusional, and here's a scripture to back that up.  It is particularly unfortunate when one of those people is standing behind a pulpit at a church.  When we build ourselves up and stop receiving counsel and correction from others, we are venturing into dangerous territory that the Devil loves to see us in.  Jesus showed us the example here by continually seeking counsel from His Father in Heaven.  While He never needed correction, he still needed advice and guidance. If He needed advice, it certain that you and I do.  God will speak to us direction, and he will send people into our lives to help us.  As the old saying goes, half of being smart is knowing what you're dumb at.  Seeking guidance in those areas will lead us toward a higher level of wisdom in our lives.
