Encouraging Scripture-God is our refuge

Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
Psalm 16:1 (NIV) from Bible Gateway

Having somewhere we can go to get away from our lives for even a few minutes can be a very good thing.  Maybe walking down the block to a Starbucks (because nothing relaxes you like a double espresso), or maybe you have a den or other quiet place in your home where everyone knows you are not to be disturbed.  We can be there, however, and still not really have found refuge.  We can't always escape our fears, our anxiety, the pressure we face in our lives, by finding solitude because our thoughts follow us wherever we go.  That's where we need the peace only the Holy Spirit can offer us.  Finding peace in Washington, DC traffic can be a real challenge, yet I can when I'm praying and feeling the Lord's presence through the Holy Spirit.  As our thoughts follow us around, so does God.  He can be our refuge anywhere and everywhere, we just have to open the door so He can enter.
