I remember not being particularly gifted athletically in my youth (or ever, actually) and was one of the kids often not picked when it was time to chose teams for whatever sport was in season. Although it obviously didn't ruin my life, I still remember how disappointing and embarrassing that was. How great is it, then, to know that God has chosen me for his team! Not only did he pick me, he promised that I would have the resources to fill the role that he has chosen for me--all I have to do is ask. If you don't get that promotion, or get dumped by your significant other, remember that we are still chosen by our Heavenly Father, and therefore have great value and purpose in our lives.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
