I've heard so many stories of peole responding to hearing about Jesus by saying what a rotten person they've been and how God couldn't possible forgive them. They are convinced they are too bad a person for God to forgive and love. That is absolutely not true, and the verse from 1 John is but one example proving it isn't true. We are always off track when we limit God's power, especially when it relates to His love for us. He wants to forgive us, and He will...if we ask.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
