Encouraging Stories-Faith Tabernacle strives to serve all of ‘God’s people’

The doors of Faith Tabernacle church home are open to homeless women, children and veterans.
In a separate location, Faith Tabernacle provides housing for homeless women, children and veterans and a drug abuse recovery program for the homeless veterans.

“We take care of all of God’s people,” said Bishop James L. Black, pastor. “We strongly advocate for those that are disenfranchised and poor and oftentimes helpless. Our priority is on seniors, women and children,”

On Sundays the congregation provides hot meals for senior citizens. The church also has a food pantry, and Black said the congregation has seen an increase in the number of homeless people with the downturn in the economy.

“The most impacted are women and children,” he said. “Women and children are suffering the most.”
